Cortex Medical Management Systems Celebrates 25 Years Providing Software for Anatomic Pathology Labs

Early computer software pioneers enhance pathology and billing software, refine their proven products based on customer feedback

Seattle, WA - June 9, 2008 - This spring, Seattle-based Cortex Medical Management Systems will celebrate 25 years of providing state-of-the-art services to pathologists across the nation. The company was founded by two information technology and software development experts with years of health care experience in 1983—when the hairstyles were tall and the Seattle housing prices were small.

Cortex's first product was a ground-breaking new product enabling laboratories to easily tailor the system to fit their specific styles of operation. Over 100 systems were installed at pathology laboratories around the U.S., Hong Kong and Australia. Since then, the company has grown and continued to refine its products, based on customer requests and recommendations.

In 1997, Cortex launched the Gold Standard, an anatomic pathology software system that allows clients to create customized patient reports, based on a quick and accurate data entry system. The Gold Standard features integrated cytology, histology and imaging modules and works hand-in-hand with Cortex Medical Billing, so patient data only needs to be entered once to remain up-to-date.

Cortex Web Report Delivery allows labs to deliver reports electronically, creating quick and accurate turn-arounds for physicians. A "rule-based" solution, Cortex Web Report offers options and features able to be quickly updated for HIPAA audit requirements and the changing needs of clients.

Easy-to-use Cortex Medical Billing, based on the award-winning Microsoft Dynamics SL accounting system, features electronic medical records and works with or without the Gold Standard.
